Brighton Center

At Brighton Center we serve thousands of children with disabilities or delays and their families in the San Antonio and surrounding area. Brighton Center serves as a beacon of hope for many families who do not know where to turn. We are there hand in hand with each family from the moment of that first diagnosis to ensure their child has the opportunities they need to acquire the necessary skills to lead a successful, full life. Brighton Center has a sound reputation for providing quality services to children with disabilities in the San Antonio area since 1969 and has a strong, strategic vision for the future. Brighton Center has received recognition not only as a quality social service provider but also as a top employer, named #5 Best Nonprofit to work for in the U.S. by the NonProfit Times and San Antonio's #5 best place to work by San Antonio Business Journal!

Our three programs incorporate services that meet the needs of the child and the entire family. Brighton Center’s Nationally Accredited Child Care and Preschool program is committed to helping each child reach their full and unique potential. We do this by providing small and intimate classroom settings for children 6 weeks up to age 5 with and without disabilities. Our play-based curriculum provides children of any age and all abilities the opportunity to develop an inherent love for learning that will last their entire lifetime. This approach has proven to improve social, motor and emotional development for children with disabilities – while promoting understanding, acceptance and appreciation of all children. As a non-profit organization, the focus is ALWAYS on your child, not turning a profit. We have two locations to support Bexar County.

In order to help children reach their full potential, Brighton Center offers Early intervention services help young children with disabilities achieve their goals in cognitive, social/emotional, communicative, adaptive and physical development. Through a team approach, children and their families are given the education, tools, strategies and services they need to help them reach their maximum potential. Services may include occupational therapy to help an infant learn to hold her bottle, physical therapy to help her learn to roll over, or speech therapy to help her learn to eat. Since children grow and learn best in their natural environment, Brighton Center staff provides therapy to children wherever they spend their days (home, daycare, etc.) and teach their parent or caregiver simple strategies to integrate into their daily routine to enhance their child’s development.

At Brighton, we offer parent educational sessions that teach parents about their child’s disability, strategies to help their child make progress, their child’s rights in school provided by the special education laws, and how to work with the educational system to ensure your child’s educational needs are being met. Parent involvement is the cornerstone of every child’s success. But without the right knowledge and tools, parents might not realize all the opportunities they can help provide to their child to set them up for a successful future.
